The Survey of Rural Decision Makers is the largest and widest-reaching survey of New Zealand’s primary sector. Responding is your opportunity to make sure the horticulture voice is represented in what scientists know about what farmers think.
The survey is conducted online by Manaaki Whenua – Landcare Research, a New Zealand Crown Research Institute. Topics in previous surveys included the primary sector’s attitudes toward regulation, sources of farming advice, land-use change, environmental performance, retirement planning, and well-being.
For the last several years, commercial growing operations have been underrepresented in the survey. To encourage more commercial fruit or vegetable growers to participate, Manaaki Whenua – Landcare Research is donating $3 to the Young Grower of the Year national final for each new grower who signs up. For everyone who completes the survey after signing up, Manaaki Whenua will donate an extra $12 to the Young Grower of the Year national final.
In addition, everyone who completes the survey goes into a prize draw to win one of ten $500 supermarket vouchers.
Sign up before 5pm on 15 May. A link to the survey will be sent to the email address you provide in early June.
Only one survey per business.
Note that the Survey of Rural Decision Makers is confidential, meaning that your name, email address, and NZBN will not be connected to the answers you provide. All reporting will be aggregated to ensure anonymity.
