I am the Project and Communications Manager for the programme "Beyond myrtle rust: Towards ecosystem resilience." I am passionate about understanding and protecting New Zealand's natural environment, and excited to be working on a major research programme focussed on maintaining forest health.
My research background is in ecology and I have a strong interest in fungi. Before starting this position, I worked as a post doctoral researcher at Los Alamos National Laboratory in New Mexico, USA. My research there looked at the influence of microbial communities over carbon cycling in soils. My PhD studied the biogeography of fungi in the roots of sand dune grasses, using next generation sequencing.
