Known distribution
New Zealand
North Island, New Zealand. In addition to the type locality, reported as common in the Soda Spring at Pakaraka.
Etymology
Dedicated to the English biologist J. R. Carter.
Description
Differs from the type by having larger valves and transapical striae irregularly shortened towards the axial area. 70 x 13 µm, 18 striae in 10 µm.
