James Stevenson-Wallace has been appointed by the Board of Manaaki Whenua - Landcare Research as the organisation’s new Chief Executive Officer.

His previous positions have included GM, Energy and Resources at MBIE, Director of Fisheries Management at MPI, and Economist at the NZ Institute of Economic Research. He has worked closely with several of the Crown Research Institutes and led various Government research programmes.
James holds a Master of Public Policy from Victoria University, a Bachelor of Arts in Economics also from Victoria, and a Bachelor of Business Studies from Massey University.
James will join Manaaki Whenua – Landcare Research on 25 October 2022.
Dr Fiona Carswell will continue to lead Manaaki Whenua as Acting Chief Executive Officer until then.
