COVID Level 2: we’re still working from home, but we’re also increasing our lab and fieldwork where possible
From 11:59pm on 13th May, the country will officially be in Alert Level 2. This means many businesses and schools can reopen, but our Government is encouraging alternative ways of working where possible.
Our first priority under Level 2 is to ensure the ongoing safety of our people, and of New Zealanders in general.
We are able to continue the majority of our priority work for New Zealand within Level 2 restrictions.
Working from home
Many of our people are able to work safely and effectively from home, and will continue to do so through Alert Level 2. We have video conference and webinar capability for virtual meetings.
Lab and field work
Moving into Level 2 means we will be able to increase the number of key laboratory and fieldwork projects that can be restarted. To support this, we have developed new processes and controls for our site work and fieldwork. These will ensure the safety of our people and those we work with, while allowing priority research on our land environment to progress.
For these reasons, during Alert Level 2 our sites will be open with limited staff, prioritising those needing access to equipment and labs to continue their important work.
