Getting to New Zealand
Flight times to NZ are approximately 3.5 hours from Eastern Australia, 10–16 hours from Asia, 12–13 hours from the Western cost of the USA, and 24 hours from Europe. Most international flights arrive in Auckland or Wellington.
Visitors to New Zealand must carry a passport that is valid for at least 3 months beyond the date you intend to leave this country. Visas are not required for New Zealand or Australian citizens, or for citizen of over 50 other countries that have a current visa waiver for travellers staying less than 3 months. Getting to Palmerston North
Palmerston North is approximately a 1-hour flight or a 6-hour drive south from Auckland, and a 30-minute flight or 2-hour drive north from Wellington. The Palmerston North airport is located on the north edge of the city, taxis are available at the airport (approx. $20–25 into town) or a shuttle can be pre-booked to take you to your hotel. Once you are in the central area of the city you can walk to most places in 10 minutes. The Intercity bus depot is based in The Square. If you plan to drive, make sure you familiarise yourself with the New Zealand driving rules before setting off.
