About EnviroSmart®
EnviroSmart is an initiative promoted by city, district and regional councils throughout New Zealand. The first programme started in July 2006 in Wellington and programmes are also underway in Auckland, Waikato, Bay of Plenty, Manawatu, Canterbury, Southland and Otago. The EnviroSmart programme, which was launched in February 2006, focuses on improving the environmental performance and resource efficiency of over 100 recruited businesses nationwide. This programme was built on an initial pilot in North Shore City and an extended Auckland regional pilot programme. Both programmes were developed by North Shore City Council.
Businesses have been recruited in a number of regions throughout New Zealand. Each business has committed to achieving all of the programme objectives within a two-year time frame. Support is provided to participating businesses through site visits by EnviroSmart consultants, as well as workshops provided by Landcare Research. The programme offers many benefits to participating businesses.
