Highlights - Getting the policy framework right
Safari to the Kapiti Coast – 2 April 2009
They say that seeing is believing - and that is just what the Kapiti safari did for those who came along. With a number of developments that have incorporated both the LIUDD philosophy and techniques, we could really get a feel for what LIUDD looks like at a range of scales and densities.
Our safari included visiting the Raumati Heights development, the Kotuku Park development, the Waterstone medium density development and the Ferndale development. The day concluded with a great networking session at the Front Room in Waikanae!
A big thanks for Dale Wills, Rita O’Brien and Jim Ebenhoh from Kapiti Coast District Council for putting together the itinerary.
Seminar in Wellington – 3 April 2009
The theme for this seminar was on ensuring the policy environment is supportive of LIUDD. With both researcher and practitioner perspectives represented during the day, there was much good discussion and debate about current policy and practice and where policy might head in the future. The briefings from the research programme – for inclusion in the folder – are now downloadable, as are all the presentations:
