Māori Values
It is difficult to understand what the role of Māori values might be in design and development in an urban environment without first having some exposure to Māori culture and some basic understanding of the Māori world-view, knowledge, values and concepts.
Of equal importance is an understanding of contemporary and historical Māori issues within a geographic area. It is essential to seek guidance as much as possible from tangata whenua, Māori planners, authorities, and researchers on these matters.
