About this LIUDD Website
These LIUDD web pages provide information about the many aspects of Low Impact Urban Design and Development in New Zealand.
This site is also the Web presence of an exciting research initiative based in New Zealand whose goals are aligned with informing and enabling:
- Transformation of urban development
- Design of sustainable settlement forms for the 21st century
- Sustainable buildings with reduced environmental impact, water and energy needs
- Reduced stormwater infrastructure, energy demands and urban wastes
- Measured improvement in urban freshwater, native, terrestrial environments
- Urban communities embracing nature and low-impact development in cities
- Sustainable development – making an economic return
This initiative brings together researchers, agency personnel, and end-users from a variety of organisations.
The programme participants include people from the following organisations: Landcare Research, Auckland University, and Lincoln University.

Navigation
On the left-hand side of the page, a series of subject areas expand as you roll your mouse over them indicating where further levels of information are held. Pages that are on the same hierarchical level are indicated in the various dropdown menus.
'Breadcrumbs' at the top of the page also help indicate where on the Landcare Research site the particular page you are on is located. You can readily navigate back by using the 'Back' button on your browser, click on the breadcrumb navigation, or use the left-hand side bar dropdown menus to view other parts of the site.
