Highlights – LIUDD in Greenfields development

Safari – Tauranga 21 May 2009

The application of LIUDD in greenfields can take many forms. We explored the application of LIUDD in an urban fringe development on undulating land to the south of Tauranga – The Lakes and then in an existing urban area with sandy soils – Frasers Papamoa. Then we met with a member of Mangatawa Papamoa Blocks Inc to see how cultural principles were incorporated with LIUDD principles to guide the development of their land.

It was another successful safari, and many thanks to Simon Maxwell and Kevin Hill from Grasshoppers, Stephen Short from Frasers and Victoria Kingi from Mangatawa Papamoa Blocks Inc for hosting us at their sites.

Seminar – 22 May 2009

The theme for the seminar was the application of LIUDD in greenfields and drew on a wide range of research from ecological, economic, social and cultural perspectives. The contribution from the practitioners during a perspective session was invaluable to the discussions and many thanks to Lee Jordan [Tauranga City Council], John Palmer [Tauranga City Council], David Needham and Brendan Hurring [Harrison Grierson] and Jeff Fletcher [Ford Land Projects] for their contributions.

The briefings from the research programme – for inclusion in the folder – are now downloadable, as are all the presentations.
