Shad Rolleston
Shad Rolleston is a PhD candidate studying through the Planning Department at the University of Auckland in New Zealand. The topic of his research is Maori Perspectives and Principles to Urban Design Policy in New Zealand. The research investigates an indigenous perspective to urban design; and integration of traditional design elements into the urban design and development process. The overall aim of the research is to contribute toward establishing an understanding of Maori perspectives of urban design based on cultural concepts, values and traditions.
He has strong research interests in urban design; and indigenous knowledge and environmental perspectives. His background is in town planning, Maori resource management and policy advise. He has worked as an adviser and planner for Central and Local Government, the private sector and his tribal group.
