"Our Journeys" - Low impact urban design and development road show. 2009 Seminar Series
In 2009 the Low Impact Urban Design and Development research programme hits the road. From February 2009 the diverse range of researchers and professionals involved in the five year LIUDD programme share stories, experiences and ideas. They invite you to come to their safari and seminar sessions to network, enjoy audience participation, and even to steal ideas. Each stop-off point has a two-day session with a specific theme. Each session starts with an out-and-about safari day to check out LIUDD in practice, followed the next day by presentations from researchers on key learnings from their six year journey.
The road trip kicks off in Hastings in February with a workshop on making the case for LIUDD. It moves to Wellington in April and focuses on getting the policy framework right, featuring proactive local authorities who are already headed down the path. In May the team arrive in Tauranga to highlight issues and solutions for applying LIUDD in greenfield development. The team hit Auckland in June to talk about opportunities for LIUDD in intensification and redevelopment. In August they head south again to Christchurch to share ideas about how to drive change within professions and organisations to help them change the way things are done now.
