Taxa are arranged in alphabetical order of valid species. Synonyms of valid species are arranged alphabetically under the name of the valid species. Scale rule on images is in millimetres (mm).

Wiseana cervinata (Walker, 1865a)

Wiseana copularis (Meyrick, 1912c)

Wiseana fuliginea (Butler, 1879a)

Wiseana jocosa (Meyrick, 1912c)

Wiseana mimica (Philpott, 1923)

Wiseana signata (Walker, 1856a)

Wiseana umbraculata (Guenée, 1868)

This is a prototype for listing New Zealand Lepidoptera taxa with associated images, using as an example the genus Wiseana of the family Hepialidae. (See Dugdale, J.S. 1994. Hepialidae (Insecta: Lepidoptera). Fauna of New Zealand 30, 164 pages, for a systematic revision of the Hepialidae.)

The text information has been generated from a dBase IV database file containing records of New Zealand Lepidoptera taxa. The required HTML coding was generated in the report writer of dBase IV as required.

The images of about 1800 taxa were originally on 35-mm slides taken by John Dugdale in 1980-81. These were scanned onto Kodak PhotoCD discs under the direction of Trevor Crosby, who then cropped and compressed the images using the software package CompuPic published by Photodex.

This information is currently available for most New Zealand Lepidoptera primary type-specimens. Note that information can be presented in many different ways -- this is just one suggested form. This version was prepared by Trevor Crosby, and is dated 18 February 1996.

NEW Additional note: A further prototype has been built, with images of many, many more Lepidoptera. 11:35 4th July 1996
