appendix = additional piece of membrane located distally along posterior margin of forewing [peha tāpiri]

cell = any area of the wing that is bounded by veins [āpure]

femur = the third and usually the most robust segment of the leg [pūkaka]

frons, front = upper anterior portion of face between eyes [rae]

gena = cheek, that part of the head on each side between the eye and the mouthparts [pāpāringa]

ocellus = simple eye consisting of a single lens [karu iti]

pronotal paranotum = lateral expansion on each side of pronotum [to come]

pronotum = dorsal plate of prothorax [papatua pohomua]

prothorax = anterior division of thorax [pohomua]

scutellum = triangular dorsal plate covering the middle and posterior divisions of the thorax [papatua tapatoru]

seta = hair-like projection from the exoskeleton [weu]

spine = thorn-like projection from the exoskeleton [tarakina]

spine, apical = spine at the very tip of a structure [to come]

spine, preapical = spine near the tip of a structure [to come]

tegmen = forewing [parirau o mua]

tibia = segment of the leg attached to the tip of the femur [takapū]

veins = network of hardened tubular structures supporting the wing [ioio]

vertex = top of head between eyes [tumuaki]
