Scope
- The keys will identify the mosquitoes of New Zealand, including
endemic, indigenous and introduced species.
- Also, the keys will identify all species that have been
intercepted at New Zealand's borders up to June 2004.
- As well, several other species have been included that could
pose significant human health and biosecurity risks if they established in
New Zealand. See the List of Taxa
and a map of biogeographic regions below.
- The intention is to add keys to identify fourth-instar mosquito
larvae.
These keys are under development and as such may contain errors.
Please send feedback to Graham Sandlant

Details
- A main key is provided for adults and sub keys for two species
complexes.
- NB The sub keys should not be relied upon as the taxonomy
of these groups is not clear.
- Information and pictures about each taxon is available at any
time by clicking on the icon next to each name in the Taxa Lists.
- Usually the information is about a single species, but sometimes
it is about a complex of species, a subgenus, or a genus.
