Average number of birds detected in parks compared with home gardens, July 2007

Results from parks were similar to home gardens. However, parks had fewer of some species such as silvereyes and house sparrows, and more of others such as blackbirds, song thrushes and goldfinches. They also had many more red-billed gulls and mallard ducks. Silvereyes and house sparrows are often fed in home gardens, and rock pigeons, red-billed gulls, and ducks are often fed in parks.
