About Us
Manaaki Whenua is New Zealand’s foremost environmental research
organisation specialising in sustainable management of resources for production,
conservation, business and community. Our research, consultancy and development
of technology are focused on New Zealand’s most
important environmental issues: biodiversity, biosecurity, pest management,
reducing greenhouse gas emissions, impacts of rural land use, urban environmental
management, and sustainable business. Sirtrack Ltd, our subsidiary company,
produces wildlife tracking equipment.
Manaaki Whenua is one of nine independent Crown Research Institutes (CRIs) established in 1992. We are a government-owned, tax-paying company with over 400 staff at nine locations throughout New Zealand.
