Building Māori Capacity
For our Māori research team, the development of specialist expertise is complemented by the focus on building value for Māori communities. Assisting Māori to engage in science and increase their capacity to achieve goals for kaitiakitanga and economic development is important to many of our staff.
Creating a bicultural environment
Starting at home, we provide opportunities for staff to improve their knowledge of Tikanga Māori and Te Reo classes often populated by visiting scientists from all over the world, as well as our own kiwi scientific and support staff. Celebrations of Te Wiki o te Reo Māori and Matariki are popular with all staff as we embrace and share the culture of Tangata Whenua.
